Perfect Peace

This past weekend I was really stressing about some things that were bothering me.

I was anxious

I was jealous

I was angry

I was prideful

So I went for a walk to expend some energy and to talk to God about it. Here’s what he had to say to me:

You (God) will keep in perfect peace
all who trust in you (God),
all whose thoughts are fixed on you (God)!

Isaiah 26:3

Ok, end of discussion.

What are your thoughts fixed on?

Today my thoughts have been fixed on problems and worries about the future. I felt anxious and could not shake it. I dwelt on what was making me anxious instead of what I knew God had taught me. I forgot it all in the midst of my anxiety and have had to come back to what I know to be true. And what I have to be thankful for.

I’m trying to re-center on God. Thanks for the reminder.

    Woven.
Christianity is woven throughout our entire nation, being the very fabric that makes up these islands. It keeps the judgement of God from falling on us that is why we have been preserved from the many wars that have buffeted our shores.

We need never feel that the darkness that comes upon us is permanent, for the light of Christ will always prevail by dispersing it with his glory. We need not be troubled by wicked people, for our God is surely dealing with them. I am amazed when I see Christianity in all our great institutions, I cannot begin to speak of all our workforce, builders, lawyers, nurses, miners, factory workers, who make our nation so great and confess Christ Jesus as Lord, Well, the list is never ending, where God’s people can be found, Christianity is literally everywhere. It cannot and will not ever be removed from these islands.

Do not listen to doom prophets, when you hear them say things for example, like the abortion issue, they say, “surely this will bring God’s wrath upon us all, for that wicked thing that people do to our unborn children.” Well, God’s judgement will fall on them that commit such horrific killings, but I assure you, the righteous will not be included in God’s judgement.
We remember how God’s mercy is shown to us in Genesis 18:24-26, I quote,
“Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked that be far from thee: Shall not the judge of all the earth do right? And the Lord said, if I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.”

You can see from this scripture that God will surely spare our nation, because there are more than fifty righteous Christians living here. Now Jesus has told us that this world is inhabited by the children of the kingdom and the children of the wicked, and that He will not bring final judgement on the wicked until the end of the world, because He will not destroy the wicked while the righteous are here.

At the end of the world Jesus said in St Matthew 13: 41, – 43, “The Son of man shall send forth His angels, and they shall gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.”And so, that is how we can be confident that God will not let us be overwhelmed by these recent troubles that we face in our nation. Praise God, for every born-again believer that God has placed in our lands.

    “…that I may know Him more…” (Philippians 3:10)
No matter what my circumstances or the issues I am facing in life right now, I want to get to the other side and be able to say that I know my Jesus a little more through it. Whether good circumstances or bad.
This one was kind of easy because I blogged about my answer yesterday, so the Lord had already been dealing with me about it. Thanks for the post!

Honestly, my thoughts have been fixed on me. My feelings, my wants, my insecurities, my future. I’m going to take this as a nudge from God to fix my thoughts on Him and trust Him for His perfect peace. Thanks for this post!

I’m with Ash. I’ve been self-absorbed with old house and new house. Obsessed and worried about it all. Definitely need to turn my heart towards Him.

Who hasn’t been self-obsessed. I would argue that it is our default condition. One we must constantly work toward limiting through prayer and self-discipline.

i have had this kind of reset moment. I was watching a DVD and the person said tht you have to choose what you magnify.

I had a moment where i said, that is it…i have to choose what i make big in my mind. Either a trial or trouble or God and my saviour, healer, redeemer, the one who rescued me from the darkness.

I choose who i magnify. that is where my head and heart have been.

Thanks for sharing everyone! It’s amazing how we default to focusing on “me” without even really realizing it. It’s such a deliberate choice to fix our thoughts on Christ… a daily discipline.

For me I battle the me me me days.
I get anxious, jealous, and angry too.
I’m glad I have my pier and my beach to walk because if I didn’t WHOA!!
Because I need to reset at times.

Today was a good day though… He’s reminded me of the AWE He stills does in my life.

Oh! Thank you for this! I needed this today. I’ve been having angst about perfect people. I’ve had a rather messy life compared to the perfect people – and they seem to think that if you do everything right, life won’t get messy.

Not so. This verse was just what I needed today. End of discussion. Paths don’t matter – just keeping our eyes on Jesus – peace that I usually have comes just from walking with Him. How could I let someone else’s issues throw me off like that? Huh. Thanks for the reminder.

Honestly, my thoughts were pretty focused on my problems today, and not the God who is able to fix them. I’m going to go pray RIGHT now.

    Thanks for the encouragement!
