What are you reading?
I love to read!
Unfortunately, finding dedicated time to read is one of my greatest challenges these days. Any time that I can sneak away with a book is a treasure for me.
Here’s what I’ve been reading:
Just finished Seth’s latest. I love his writing… his perspective… his candor, but I loved Tribes because of it’s focus on leadership.
I’m currently reading Bill Hybels newest book Axiom. Great short leadership proverbs!
And in fiction, I’m finally reading The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. Loving this one as well!
What are you reading right now?
One of my rules for reading is that I won’t read anything that hasn’t been recommended to me, so send me your recommendations!
I’m reading TRIBES and AXIOM as well. I’m a bit of an ADD reader…so I have a couple books going. Both are great. Ummm…I can’t say that I’m reading the SLofBees though. I have to maintain some semblance of a guy.
Love and Respect. So far it has totally rocked our marriage. Unless it turns out to be about killing your spouse or something crazy, I would say it is (dare I say) even better for our marriage (as far as lessons learned) then the 5 love languages. It is THAT good. Yay. Thanks for the recommendations…I love hearing what other people are reading.
Right now.. I am reading nothing… I am looking for a good women’s leadership book that focuses on restoration and building a team.
I’m new in the fish pond and my team is growing rapidly and I want it to remain healthy.
any recommendations???
I’m reading Wrecked by Toben Heim and Ryan Dobson. Excellent read.
I am just finishing Tribes and have Axiom that I grab “bites” chapter by chapter. I’m also working through some “assigned” readings toward becoming a pastor. I have Purple Cow “in the bullpen” ready to start soon.
“Team of Rivals. The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln.” was one of the best books I’ve read this year. Check out Groundswell, too, about the rising power of social networking. Currently reading, “Schulz and Peanuts” a fascinating look at Charles Schulz, the greatest cartoonist of the last century.
I’m currently reading “One Christmas in Washington” a book on Roosevelt and Churchill; I started “Tribes” last night, and I just ordered “Outliers” by Malcolm Gladwell.
As far as recommendations, pick up “The Art of Possibility” – it’s one of my all-time favorites
I’m reading “The Dangerous Act of Worship” by Mark Labberton and “Let Your Life Speak” by Parker Palmer. I’m taking them both slowly because I need to think deeply about what I read and process it a bit.
“Tribes” is sitting on my desk, along with “Crazy Love” by Francis Chan!
I am jumping on the bandwagon and just finished Twilight. I have started New Moon, but just in the first chapter right now. I am hooked!
Since I am a Harry Potter junkie, I have Tales Of Beedle The Bard waiting when I am finished with the Twilight Saga………which I am sure that it won’t take me long to read.
I am currently reading 2 books.
1. Son! by John Sheasby
2. Bible Doctrine by Wayne Grudem (wonderful book chalked full of the simpel things of Faith we sometimes overlook in a busy life) I am just reading a couple of pages a day when I am done with my time in the Word).
I need to read Tribes and Axiom. I hear they are great!
Wow…. Coming back here in the morning gave me a new list of possibilities. WOW!!
Fiction: A Voice in the Wind, the first book from The Mark of the Lion series by Francine Rivers. Really enjoying it!
Non-fiction: Walking with God, John Eldredge…. awesome!
I’m so excited about checking out some of these books!
LOVED SLOB too!!! the movie came out, but i didn’t hear the reviews. the girl was played by dakota fanning!
I’m lovin’ this book “Surprised By Hope” by N.T. Wright. It’s a Biblical look at the Resurrection and what it means for Christian hope and justice in the world today.
The Reason for God and The Prodigal God, both by Tim Keller. Awesome, awesome and awesome.
Bet you haven’t heard of this one, 😉 I started reading Mad Church Disease today. I can’t wait for the kids to go to bed so I can read.
Client’s websites… I know, need to get a life. My reading time consists of catching up on these. Would love to replace with a good fiction!! I like a little dark mystery mixed with intricate details – thought provoking with the occasional humor.
Any suggestions?
Im reading “A Love Worth Giving” by Max Lucado.
Wish I had more time to read ! I have just started Messy Spirituality..I’ll let you know how it turns out 😉
More and more good stuff… I need to go read 🙂
I truly admire how much you read especially with how busy you are!!!
I am in the middle of the second book of the Twilight series… and I also just finished “The Christmas Sweater” by Glenn Beck. It’s an amazing book that definitely made me stop and think about areas in my life where I am selfish… also made me think about things and people I take for granted. I recommend it highly.
I’m reading “God’s Blogs”.. it’s quite the book!!

Have you seen the movie for the secret life of bees??? I LOVED the movie (not so much of a reader), my favorite character was May.
I love to read, too, Jenni. But I can be the WORST at setting aside time to actually do it. I find that I have to be somewhere with no possible distractions, such as on a plane, to sit and read through chapters at a time.
As a result, I have about 6-7 books that all have bookmarks somewhere between chapters 2-5 that i am trying to work my way through at all times.
Right now, I am working on “In A Pit With A Lion On A Snowy Day” (which is ROCKING my world), “Run With The Horses” (killer book by Eugene Peterson about the lie of Jeremiah), “Tribes”, “The Starfish And The Spider” and “Wide Awake”.
“in a pit with a lion on a snowy day” is rockin my world!
