Monday Inspiration

UPDATE: THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED

————————————————————-

I’m just wrapping up Shelene Bryan’s book Love, Skip, Jump: Start Living the Adventure of Yes

loveskipjump

Since I made my recent jump, I’m quite interested in hearing how others have jumped too.

Shelene’s book is equally convicting and inspiring.

Here are a couple of quotes I enjoyed:

“An attitude and lifestyle of giving can make life truly thrilling.”

“Some of the most amazing things God wants to do in our lives as Christians involve giving Him permission to take us on uncomfortable journeys.”

“Jumping is an act of your will to use your God-given gifts to affect others.”

“You don’t always immediately feel good about obeying God.  How many times have I let my feelings get in the way of an incredible journey that God wanted to take me on?”

Want to love… skip… jump… with us too?

Be sure to check out the book website to learn more about Shelene and her story.

Also check out all the work she is doing through her organization Skip1.org – amazing stuff!

I have a copy of the book to giveaway! Leave a comment telling us about a time that God asked you to jump.  I’ll select the winner on Wednesday, June 4th.

Happy Monday everyone!

My jump happened when I felt God asking me to move across the country to finish college. So I packed up my car, drove 36 hours and ended up in California. I look back on that time fondly, I experienced christian community in a way that I have never before and grew in my relationship leaps and bounds. I’m very thankful that I endured the loneliness in the beginning to experience the spiritual growth that I did!

Love this, Tricia! What part of California are you in?

My jump happened when I finally began to share my blog. I had been blogging secretly for a year before I told anyone. So very grateful that I did take the jump 🙂 Thanks for the opportunity to win this book!

My most recent jump is like none other I’ve ever experienced before as I will send off my oldest daughter on a mission trip to Paris, France this time next week! It’s a jump for me personally because God planted His heart for the French in me long ago, & I’d love nothing more than to join our church and my girl on this adventure. Yet, Jesus offered me the chance to jump into trusting Him in ways I can’t see so that my girl could jump into His plans for herself! It’s sacrificial & thrilling all at the same time to see the “jump” continuing in a whole new way through her! SO excited for all God has planned! Thanks for inviting me to share & congrats to you on your recent jump, Jenni! 🙂

    Hi Jenny
I recently discovered your site and am encouraged by your testimonies and transparency.

Recently after many years of being in a desert for many seasons, God has asked me to jump in and start a women’s ministry in our church. I am not a polished, experienced church leader. Oh no I am just me, but so willing although somewhat in fear of doing this work. This ministry is to the widow and fatherless as well as mentoring the younger women. I have to jump for fear that I will be back in that desert land, although it’s scary because I know I am inadequate and it’s unchartered territory. I am so thankful in my heart for being called to do this that it overcomes my fear. I will just trust that He will lead and provide to accomplish His purpose.

Sandy, I’m so proud of you for stepping out in this way. Praying for God to bless your leap of faith!

Hi Jenni! I took a jump, a leap of faith, and put all my trust in God when I asked God to grow me in the area of patience. About a year after I prayed that prayer, our youngest daughter was born and the doctor told us she had Down syndrome. I had never personally interacted with anyone that had a disability so I was completely at a loss and scared to death for the future. It’s been a journey that I never could have imagined, but I can say without a single doubt, God has been faithful in guiding us, taking care of us, bringing the best people into our lives to help her and us. Each new chapter of her life has brought its own set of unknowns, fears, stresses, struggles and yet joy. Within the past 5 months, our family relocated to another state (9 hours away from ‘home’), new school, new classmates, new teachers, new church, new home, new schedule…it’s been a tough 5 months helping her adjust as well as all our family. But because of the relationship history we have with God, I know that although I’m out of my comfort zone, God isn’t. He’s got this. I just need to continue to trust that His plan is the best, and He will reveal what he chooses to reveal in His perfect timing. Thanks for the opportunity to win this book (it sounds just like a book I need to read!)

I have jumped into helping lead a Bible study for chronically ill people in my church. Also being led back into missions and traveling around the world after taking a break to help with grand babies.

      Love your heart, Heidi!

Looking back over the last 10 years, God has asked me to jump over and over. Each jump has been hard. Each one an opportunity for personal growth, a sacrifice, and a stepping out of what is comfortable for me. We’ve come to another crossroads in our journey and we see that both ways forward require another jump. Another big leap of faith with Jesus. I am daily asking God for courage to move forward with Him, and to do it with a heart full of trust!

Praying for courage for you, Judy!

I’d been an a Executive Pastor at a large church for nearly a decade and glad to be in the supporting role. When a friend planted a church and asked me to join him as his Executive Pastor I was thrilled and joined him. Sadly, his leukemia returned 3 days after we planted and he passed away 3 months later. I had been leading the church in his absence and waiting for him to return. When he passed away I figured the Board would suggest we close up our 50- person church attempt and move on. Instead, they asked me to stay and continue to lead the church. I jumped. 33 months later, our church is growing and serving our community. We have about 150 – 170 attendees each weekend and have outgrown our rental space. As a female Senior Pastor, I appreciate your guidance and wisdom – we “jumpers” need to support each other!

Chalane, that is an amazing story! I love the faith and obedience you have displayed. Praying God continues to bless you abundantly. You inspire me!

God asked me to take a “leap of faith” a couple of years ago when the youth pastor at our church asked me to go on a missions trip to Guatemala as an adult leader. The decision to go was extremely tough. The trip was amazing and life changing. This summer our family will be going back again for our third trip to serve in the village of Xenacoj. I’m so thankful I took the leap of faith.

    • Jenni Catron June 4, 2014

Love that Jon! Praying for your family as you travel this summer. Mission work always does the greatest work on my heart.

I know the giveaway is closed, but I still wanted to share my story and hopefully it will be a source of encouragement to someone! About a year and a half ago I was enrolled in a college pretty close to home studying art. I was about to be engaged to my boyfriend of three years, though our relationship was very unhealthy. And my spiritual life needed some serious revamping. Within a weeks time, God completely changed my life. I was on vacation in Florida and realized exactly what God was calling me to do. When I got home, I broke up with my boyfriend an cancelled my enrollment at college. I applied and was accepted to a Christian University in Florida, and moved there with only $400 in my pocket and nobody to depend on but God. A year and a half later and I’m double majoring in theology and counseling, studying to be a family and marriage therapist in a Christian church. It was a hard transition, and my faith and strength was tested, but I am so happy I listened to God when He said JUMP!

Wow Ashley! Thank you for sharing. Inspired by your faith and obedience!
