The Story of Audrey Caroline

Today at Cross Point we had the privilege to hear the story of Todd and Angie Smith and the amazing life of their daughter Audrey Caroline. Little Audrey only lived 2 1/2 hours outside of the womb, but the impact this precious baby is having through the sharing of her story by her parents is amazing. Todd and Angie shared their story in a video interview with Pete, and Todd sang the song “I Surrender All” to close the service. It was an amazingly emotional and powerful day. Thank you Todd and Angie for so graciously sharing your story amidst the pain of your loss. We have been honored!

If you were not able to attend today, I’ve included the video and the link to Audrey Caroline’s blog. Here are my take-aways from the day:

  • Trust is not expecting things to happen the way you are hoping them to happen, but rather knowing that God is with you no matter what the road in front of you holds.
  • The challenge of balancing the tension of planning for loss and hoping for miracles
  • Rest in knowing that your Plan B is not a surprise to God
  • We don’t control outcomes
  • Trusting God doesn’t mean we understand it, get it or like it
  • Do I interpret God through my circumstances?
  • Do I believe that God is who He says He is?

Oh my goodness, Jenni, thank you so much for sharing that story. Thank Todd and Angie, too. It takes courage to let God use your story for his purposes. The video was done so well, and Pete did a great job of integrating Audrey’s story with your Plan B series. Wow – common human emotions that are so heartbreakingly familiar. Our church finished up a “Live Like You Were Dying” series today with a look at heaven…so I’m picturing little Audrey with all her attitude running to her momma and daddy’s arms.

I should never have watched this late at night by myself. Sigh.

    Thanks again. Great post.

Hi Jenni, thanks for sharing this. It’s so touching. Mark & I just had a miscarriage about 3 months ago. We are still healing from it and this touched me so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I have been following Angie’s blog about Audrey Caroline, my sister (Kim) told me about it when her daughter (Bliss) and son-in law (Adam) were told that their first baby has no kidneys, bladder, fluid in the lungs, and enlarged heart also no ambiotic fluid. Bliss is due August 8th, but is going to have a c-section the middle of July. She just finished school as a physician’s assistant, and will be working as a hospitalist in peadiatrics. Bliss and Adam are a very special couple, they were also advised to terminate. They chose not to.

When Angie said in her interview and also her blog that no one should have to plan their child’s funeral while still feeling movement is so true. This young couple has also done that.

Please pray for them as they go though this difficult time. I will also find out her e-mail adress. I think maybe it would be comforting for them to know that so many people are praying for them.

Angie, Todd, and Audrey Caroline have touched many lives (especially mine), and these babies are and always will be a part of our family and not forgotten.

This is also my sister and her husbands first grandchild, please pray for them.
    GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU
