Pass, Set, Dribble, Swing, Serve, Catch?

I recently started taking tennis lessons and I LOVE it!

I played tennis for one year in high school and made it to #4 on the team… not too bad for having never picked up a racket before tryouts.  (I won’t mention how bad our season record was, though).

I’ve enjoyed the sport since then but never with any focus, so I thought it was time to get serious.

So, tell me:

What sport did you play in high school?

Are you better or worse now?

PS – I’ll keep you posted on my progress. So far, my coach is re-teaching me EVERYTHING!  I don’t think I impressed him much. 🙂

I played tennis in high school (pretty bad). I took classes in college for tennis (and actually got credit hours!). When my kids came into the world, it stopped my tennis life. I plan to pick it back up one day. My twin brother still competes weekly. I am definitely better for organized sports…and anything that pushes the body.

I played baseball in high school and college

I am definitely much, much worse now……..and I prove that on the softball field from time to time

I was a basketball addict…lettered my freshman year. I am probably not as good anymore, but I’m starting to work on shooting again with the park behind our house. I was a shooting guard, and I was dang good! 🙂

I played tennis!! So great! I would say that I’m either better or about the same–I played in college and still try to play whenever I can 🙂

I played volleyball, basketball and most importantly, I was head cheerleader – go figure!

I still love to play volleyball. Im so short so it really surprises people when I bust out my skills – ha!

Question back at you: are you competitive? I sure am!

I played basketball and did the high jump for my track team. Not so good at the high jump anymore but I can still shoot some hoops.

    Holla.

Hey! Thanks for commenting on my blog! I know, my wife’s blog rocks amazingly.

I played no sports in high school. I did lug around a lot of music equipment – amps, speakers, guitars, drums etc…

I tried skateboarding for a little while and was decent at that but gave it up to save myself from hand and arm injuries (for the sake of music).

We’ve got some good athletes among us!

    @JudiFree – yes, I’m terribly competitive!

So, I’m thinking 5th Street needs to make sure that we have some competitive sports at the bloggers’ retreat, huh?

Dance Team… yep. I don’t know if I am better or not… I did teach Salsa dancing before I moved to Nashville, though… does that count?

I bought a tennis racket last season that still has the tag on it. How pathetic is that? Since we moved into our new house we have a tennis court a couple blocks away so now I’ve GOT to find someone to play with…if for nothing else than to finally take the tag off my racket!

Brad, I’ll be right there to play with you 🙂 I have a tennis racket that has been used once in my closet and is about 7 years old.

In high school I played: Basketball, Soccer, Football, and Baseball.
The only sport I still play is basketball and there are some areas I am better in now and some areas where I’ve lost it do to age and being away for so long from the game and not having the time to work on the weak spots, but for a short white guy, I can hang with the young players.

I went from baseball to church league softball for which I have improved in recent years since high school, but would stink at baseball if I tried to hit a 90 mph fastball.

I played Soccer and Football in High School. I was definitely better at Soccer considering I was a whopping 145 lbs my senior year of High School. I also ran track one year.

Oddly enough, I was better at Basketball than Soccer or Football but there wasn’t any room for a small white kid on the team so I played church league. And let me tell you, we had some tough competition in baptist church league basketball. If I’m not mistaken I played against this guy named Pete who played for Brook Hollow Baptist Church.

Still good at Soccer? Seriously? I can’t run over a mile right now much less play a full soccer match.

I played basketball, soccer, and volleyball. I had a basketball scholarship and turned it down. Crazy huh?

P.S. I still play basketball occasionally. I actually prefer racquetball these days……when I actually work out that is : )
