She speaks into my life even when I don't invite her…

My friend Kat has spoken into my life for years.  We worked together for several years in the music business and used to pour over leadership books together during our weekly Friday lunch.  As our lives have changed and we each have moved on to other careers, she still holds a very special place in my life as a peer, mentor, a kick-me-in-the-pants-when-I-need-it kind of friend.  Gone are the days of weekly lunches… in fact we’re lucky to have a monthly lunch, but she still manages to invest in my life through her daily verse.

Here was today’s verse and commentary:

“My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.”

Isaiah 32:18

Sometimes you just need peace and quiet. If you’re the type of person who is always amidst the loud hustle-bustle, be sure to take refuge in a secure, quiet resting place every now and then. The peace and tranquility will serve you well.

Today I needed the reminder to get out of the hustle & bustle and find some quiet.  See, she still finds a way to bust my chops even when I haven’t seen her in weeks! 🙂

You are so right, Jenni. I have sent Kat many a reply to her daily verse to tell her that it was just what I needed to hear that day.

There was no way she oculd have known, since I now live in Mississippi and we don’t even get a ‘monthly’ lunch! But she’s often so on target…

I think that’s what we call a “God Thing!”
