The Joy of Unique

Little known fact about me: I love to decorate!

(For someone who is not known as “Susie homemaker” this one might come as a surprise to you.)

There are two main reasons that I think explain why I love to decorate:

• The thrill of the hunt – the perfect item at the perfect price! I’ve been known to leave rooms and walls empty for months, even years if I can’t find what I’m looking for at a price I’m willing to pay.
• The art of infusing my personality… creating my own unique style. I guess it’s a bit of an artistic outlet for me.  I want my home to be an extension of me.

So, this weekend I welcomed the newest additions to my home.

My friend Lisa designed and painted these beauties that now grace two walls in my front sitting room.  (These walls have been empty for almost 4 years!)

What I love about these paintings are that they are unique to me.  Lisa came to my house, chose the paint colors to match my room, got a feel for my style and created something that is uniquely mine.

Additionally, that little part of me that loves promoting and encouraging artists is proud to have a friend’s gift displayed for me to brag about to everyone who comes to my house.
