Happy 4th of July
The 4th of July is filled with so many fond memories for me:
- big parties with family
- tables and tables of red, white & blue deserts (some of those were just plain weird)
- fear that someone was going to blow up the neighborhood
- lazy days at the lake
- fireworks shows that seemed larger than life
- lots of laughter

I loved when all of us kids got to go down the street from Nanny's with Didee for the Fireworks. It felt like mom was actually letting us do something fun.
I don't care how many things we blew up as kids–or even as an adult–my favorite has always been sparklers. There's always been something magical about watching the colored flames leave your "name" in the air as you wrote it over and over.
