Who Is "Who I Am"?

Just be you.

Be who you are.

Ever get told those statements?  Maybe by a friend, a counselor or your spouse?

But what if you don’t know who you are?

I’ve been grappling with this question a lot lately:

Who is “who I am”?

We start being who others want us to be very early in life.  It’s part of our survival mechanism.  You do the right things to make the right people happy even if it’s not necessarily your preference.  A good part of this is learning to work with people, but if you are not rooted in your “true self”, than you wind up really confused later in life.

Add to this the roles, responsibilities and complexities of life and it seems the older we get the less we really understand who God created us to uniquely be.

Next week we’ll begin the journey of this discussion in our Cultivate Her mid-size community group here in Nashville.

“Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given and then sink yourself into that.  Don’t be impressed with yourself.  Don’t compare yourself to others.  Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.” Galatians 6:4-5

I would love for you to join us:
