Would I Follow Me?: Guest Post by Bethany Turner

Well friends, vacation is over and it was lovely!  Thank you for listening to some different voices this week.  I’m so grateful to everyone who submitted a guest post!

Here’s our last guest post for this week from the sweet Bethany Turner.  Bethany is one of the biggest comment-ers here on our blog so you’ve probably run into her a time or two.  Be sure to check out her blog and follow her on twitter.

Would I Follow Me?

If roles were reversed tomorrow when you woke up and you were the follower and one of your followers were the leader, how would you react? Better yet, the roles have been reversed and leadership styles as well, how would you react then? Would you happily follow your leadership style? Essentially, would you follow yourself?

You may be thinking to yourself, I am not a leader. This post does not apply to me. Wrong! I argue everyone is a leader in some way or another. There is someone somewhere looking to you, watching you, maybe even imitating you (unless you are a hermit and since you are ready this on the internet, lets face it you are probably not a hermit). This person might be a friend, a spouse, a neighbor, a co-worker, a child, the cashier at the grocery store. People are watching you and looking to you as a leader.

Now that we have established that everyone is a leader one way or another, would you want to follow the way you lead? If so, that is awesome! If you are not so sure, don’t beat yourself up. Maybe there is a change or two you can make to make yourself a better leader. We are never too old to learn and grow.

What do you think makes a good leader? What are the qualities that you like to follow?
