To Be Unimpressive

For some say, “His letters are weighty and forceful, but in person he is unimpressive and his speaking amounts to nothing.” 2 Corinthians 10:10

“He is unimpressive and his speaking amounts to nothing”

Poor Paul.  In this passage he is sharing some criticism he had received as he teaches the Corinthians about the danger of judging and comparing.

I know you’ve probably had some hurtful things said about you.  People have criticized your best intentions.  They’ve complained about something that you felt led by God to do.

Paul doesn’t seem to miss a beat.  He keeps confidently moving forward in spite of a few critics.  Who knows, maybe he cried himself to sleep that night… but I kind of doubt it.

Oh to be that confident and secure in God’s calling on our lives that a critic’s harsh words don’t trip us up.  Rather, in Paul’s case they just give him more fuel to keep pressing forward.

I’m praying for that kind of confidence for you today!
