Thriving or Surviving?

Are you thriving or just surviving?

Are you really leading or are you just surviving each responsibility, meeting, conversation, or task that comes at you?

Are you just reacting or are you leaning in?

Are you really listening or are you just taking in facts and spitting out solutions?

Are you dreaming or are you just dealing with the status quo?

Are you creating change or are you just trying to hold down the fort?

Are you passionate, excited and energized or are you lifeless, numb and immobilized?

Are you thriving or just surviving?

Depends on the day or week…and whether or not I’m disciplined or not.

    How about you?

As a member of an independent fundamental baptist church (see Ed Stetzer’s recent blog entry on it), we often joke that you have to have “three to thrive”! You need to be there Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night in order to survive. HA!!!!

Some great questions..but more than just to ponder, we need to be answering. I may journal this one out just to see what my answers would really be (rather than just going….”Great post Jenni”).

    Regardless…..Great post Jenni!

    Great post, Jenni.

How we are doing personally is a reflection of how we are doing professionally. The question I often try to reflect on is, “What am I looking forward to in my personal life?” If we’re not careful, the excitement and anticipation in life can often be restricted to the professional life. This is dangerous.

So, another good question to ask ourselves is: what in the next two weeks are you looking forward to personally, that is completely disconnected from work?

    Thanks Jenni!

    Surviving. It’s killing me.

I love/hate posts like this because you’re holding up a mirror that forces me to look honestly at what I see. Thank you. 🙂

@Ron – I agree, days and even seasons can affect the answers to these questions.

@Chris – I love the idea of journaling your answers. Great way to process!

@Jeff – you always add another layer of wisdom – thank you!

    @Jason – I know, painful. Sorry 🙁

Great questions, Jenni. I think it’s choice we make everyday. Sometimes, just increasing our awareness moves us in the right direction.

When we thrive, we are living authentically, in integrity….
