Good-bye Alice!

Alice was my very first car.  I bought her for $7,000 12 years ago before I moved to Nashville.

Today we sold her for $300.  Seems like she should have been more valuable than that given the number of years we spent together and the number of miles we logged.  Oh well, she went off to be the first car for another teenager.

Anyone have a guess which famous TV “Alice” I named her after?

I’m thinking the Brady Bunch—I loved that show!

Hmmm – or maybe the Mel’s Diner Waitress!

I’m going for the Brady Bunch. Did you get another car?

Alice from the Brady Bunch is correct. I always viewed Alice as consistent, dependable, faithful, reliable, etc for the Brady family which is what I wanted out of my first car. I have to say my Alice did that pretty well.

But no, I haven’t gotten a new car (at least not recently). In the last few years my husband has been using Alice as his weekend car while I drive our ’97 Maxima with over 200,000 miles on it. (We’re cheap!) I think my husband will actually be getting a truck soon. I’ve got to wait a bit longer.

Boy, will Alice be missed! It’s unbelievable that she will continue to be in service to someone else. I can only hope to be so useful after so many miles!

I used to have a Saturn almost identical to Alice. Mine was white though.

I think your husband is actually saving his money so he can make it to Alaska where he’ll join the boys on the Deadliest Catch for some crab fishing.

    You should let him go.

I was going to say Alice Cooper. He was on The Muppet Show.

    Dang it.

What is Bix going to drive when he’s 16? Had his heart set on Alice. Glad you finally got rid of it…one step closer to your Infiniti. 🙂

We sold my first car, 87 cavalier, for $500 so Mandy could buy her first camera ($450). We didn’t really do that it just so happen that she bought the camera the day after I sold my car so I’ve always told her that.

Good Times, not a great car!

I can not believe Alice is gone. She has been an icon in your life. I can still remember the day we went and looked at her. I wanted you to buy a two door sports car, but you were to pratical even back than. You had to have a four door. Well, I hope she serves another family as well as she has you.

    Love Dad
